For us, International Women’s Day is all about celebrating some of the fiercest females in the business, and with sets lined up at Lakota and Rampage in 2025, plus bookings alongside the likes of Badger and Logan D, up and coming DnB DJ Chlocaine certainly fits the bill.
We caught up with her before her set on The Stockyard at Into The Valley, to discuss achievements, inspirations and some of her favourite ladies on the scene…
- Which women inspire you and why?
My female inspirations in the DnB scene are Tlex and Georgie Riot. Watching both of them evolve has been incredibly motivating. Seeing Georgie thrive as a DJ and launch her own label inspires me to push myself to grow independently and carve my own path as an artist in the scene.
- A woman you’d love to collaborate with, alive or dead?
If I had to choose just one woman to collaborate with in the world of DJing, it would undoubtedly be DJ Rap. Being the first female in drum and bass to start her own label and to play a set in main room she has always been a massive inspiration. As for production, my dream collaboration would be with Mary J. Blige. I’ve always loved her powerful voice, and I would love to create a track with her.
- What female-led musicians/authors/podcast creators/bloggers/accounts do you recommend checking out?
I highly recommend checking out a few talented female artists: Sexy Ladies Massive, Lorna, and Anais. These incredible women are making significant waves in the scene right now.
- What’s your proudest achievement to date?
My proudest achievement in my career so far is being booked for Rampage. I’ve always dreamed of attending the festival, let alone playing at it, and being able to showcase myself as an artist is truly a dream come true. Alongside that, I have a massive booking that will be announced soon, which I’m incredibly excited about!
- Your dream female headliner / concert to see?
My ideal female headliner or artist I’d love to see live would definitely be IAMDDB or Rihanna. Both are incredibly independent and influential women in the music industry who have worked tirelessly to get where they are, and I absolutely love their music.
- Something you wish you could tell your younger self?
One thing I would tell my younger self is to prioritize what truly makes you happy, rather than conforming to what society expects. Pursuing what brings you joy will keep the passion alive and deepen your love for it.
- Finally, do you have an IWD message for our audience?
One message I would share for International Women’s Day is: Let’s come together as a collective to eliminate the need for the female prefix in so many professional titles.
